 Was it not devious old Oliver J. Flanagan who said that you should walk up to your worst enemy and shake his hand.

But,Oliver J. Flanagan was a successful politician so what occasion of public sincerity was he referring to?

A funeral, obviously where your friends good and bad both,gather and votes are won.

People who have been unemployed for long periods-that category embraces the disabled,idle or pensioners -often will not turn up at the funeral of someone who they know well. The reason is that they know they are not welcome (or are like all unemployed people argumentative and disagreeable individuals who are always picking fights) and are those troublesome people who take offence easily at mere irony. They are people "who would raise a row in hell".

A doer of good works and kind deeds such as the activities organised by churches and religious laymen will be long remembered after his death regardless of whether it involved money.

That remembrance is the abiding message of the churches whether we go to them or not.

All a secular 'giver' wants to hear at his funeral is "A life well lived!"

Someone who laughs into your face or mocks and ridicules you openly is someone who holds you in absolute contempt.

Do not,for heaven's sake,fool yourself about that sort of person. He is an arrogant buffoon who will not be at your funeral when you die. He is like Mickie and Jim Mc Manus someone who will send you on a wild goose chase. At funerals, people gather to discuss the affairs of the day while gathering gossip about the deceased for future circulation. They intend to declaim the person they secretly hated or ridicule the person who rebutted their amorous advances.

Let us remember that to betray someone,you must be a thief by nature,know where that person is to be found at "a time and place "(Owen Carron) and you must "go to the chief priests and elders ."after you have "decided to betray..."

All very fine and well,but remember your fate,"Judas went and hung himself. With the thirty pieces of silver, they bought the Potter's Field which was outside the city walls and buried him there since it was not allowed by law to bury someone who had killed himself within the City..."

Dimanche?

But in the North and South,Saturday after 11.45 am is part of Sunday,part of the day of truth. This 'day of truth' lasts until fall of darkness on a Sunday evening in the English vernacular.

The Free State gougers,gurriers and scumbags on the streets and in sports booths at RTE and on musical shows torment their targets even on a Sunday such is the grip of the petty proprietor and publican and tradesman in the South. Similarly,not a day of truth for an Evangelical or Christological preacher,pastor or clergyman who is often under a lot of pressure from ungrateful curmudgeons and has to work unsocial hours while being the target of unrealistic expectations.........the moral being ex mira mira or nothing good comes of being stressed out or overworked....

The nub of the matter?

I say,ask a police spy or clerical witness if they have signed the Official Secrets Act on a Sunday to dispel doubt and never tell an idler or mouthpiece how much you receive in pay or social security. Spies and clergy get on like a house on fire.

We will never be free of false religious testimony which originates with gurus and false evangelical preaching until we are free of organised religion and clergymen's fellow travellers,policemen.

As regards the three propositions of my opening paragraph,aren't those three anachronisms the founding values of modern society as it affects many people caught in the cross-hairs of secular and sacred?

The Holy Hour (or 'The sound of silence')

 The practice of not speaking between 2.00p.m.and 3.00 p.m. on a Friday would be a great release for us all, particularly older people,when our world has sunk into noise-induced,demotic chaos. Everywhere we go, we are surrounded by noise and digitalised rubbish.

A parody of its former self trying like rival organisations to involve younger people in its deceitful street games.

 Pray but pay them only your dues and you will have no difficulty or trouble with them unless it is the price of a telephone call for a friend or family member in danger. That's one thing that they are good at, knowing who in authority to approach to save someone's life or prevent them being evicted or starving or worrying themselves to death.

How much to give?

 Remember Jesus parable about the little copper coin worth two pence (an 'as') deposited in the Temple Treasury by the old widow, possibly someone Jesus knew since he also refers to the widow who searches for the lost coin.

The church? A popular history?

A brutal and barbaric institution in its day in many jurisdictions,the Church mirrored the power of the state as the Methodists do in England and Wales.

Where the Church is most vigilant is in former workers republics since there the state is a holder of a large portfolio of former Church property and as everyone knows it is money which motivates these kind souls of the cloth. Witness their attitude to and their concupiscence with the rich.

Most of the Irish Catholic Church's income comes from the Government. It is the politicians who they answer to. The Government is the the real master in this situation and relations with Government are broken off at peril apart that is from relations with Sinn Fein. In Lisnaskea,that happened in September 1983; in Enniskillen,in November 2015 and in Dublin,in August 1990. In Germany the phenomenon took place in 1924 hence the rise of Nazism.

The Southern Catholic Church counsels charity but displays very little grace in its choice of friends,namely,Irish Army officers and GAA men.These are your local prelate's chosen few and all have a connection to public charity mongering by the Vincent de Paul. Charitymongers take their orders from the bishop,not any central body and are about as disciplined as a herd of wild elephants. IRA organisation,such as it was,mirrored clerical organisation in the recent past.

Give these people what you owe them and no more or they will send you to jail AND,my dear readers,that moral judgement displays greater mental acuity than you will find in any religious textbook or leftist diatribe.

 The clergy are shrewd businessmen but do not charge interest on loans or demand profit from investments.

That fact is the basis of elementary socialist copiage and social demands for nationalisation. History has also shown that demands for nationalisation since the Fall of the Berlin Wall often fall on deaf ears because the political class recognises no master,not even Mammon or credit relations despite what Karl Marx wrote and circulated.

Give to charity,therefore. It is mankind's only redeeming grace and anyone who doesn't isn't enlightened or in a state of grace. Indeed,it is my opinion that unless you give all your spare cash to your family or charity, you are not in a state of grace but rather a desperado.

These days we are often listening to a priest who is about to be pensioned off or sent to a private nursing home to care for ageing parishioners or reduced to the level of part-time priest at his own volition.

 It is difficult to avoid the impression that many clergymen are anything other than venomous snakes who lie in wait to strike their opponent because the churches do sow division and rancour and hatred to gain advantage over their enemies. Ask any secular priest such as a politician or Marxist. READ THE BIBLE!

In this twisted and backward country,few who you meet in public give a fig about you. Everything is done for public appearance.

A real enemy will send a cipher into your house or use a bogey to infiltrate your circle of acquaintances. He will never enter your premises himself. He always sends a third party.

If in doubt consult a reputable lawyer who has not been involved in serious crime or professional misconduct unless it is a relatively minor matter, never a politician who makes a living by calumniating some group or other. The person who someone such as Gault or Lynch slanders is usually someone to whom he owes a lot of money.

Why his 'gay' repartee?
